- in-depth physiological data: plant’s hydrodynamics, fluid transport system, traspiration, root/green/fruit biomass growth, water uptake, root-leaf water balance, root performance
- innovative approach to sense biological organisms with electrochemical/optical/bio-electric sensors with impedance/dielectric spectroscopy
The phytosensor “AI biolab” is the third generation of desktop phytosensing systems developed by CYBRES. It enables non-destructive (electro-)physiological measurements of plants in vivo and in situ, e.g., monitoring fluid transport system, root/green/fruit biomass growth, water uptake, root-leaf water balance, analyzing biopotentials and tissue impedances, sap flow, transpiration, soil moisture, root performance, and other parameters. The system features various electrodes and can be used as a standalone device for agricultural use: fast phenotype testing, stress detection, monitoring plant physiology (outdoor package available). The phytosensor can also be used as an embedded sensor for integration into hydroponic systems, vertical/indoor farms and CEA.
The phytosensor represents a ‘biological mini-laboratory’ – a tool for development of bio-hybrid or AI-based systems with plants. Access to physiological and environmental parameters enables using this system in machine learning techniques – with up to 80 data channels sampled every 1-99 sec., the phytosensor generates large amounts of biological data for AI-training purposes. Phytoactuation provides a possibility to integrate a bio-exploration in various AI schemes.
Environmental pollutants, various stressors and stimuli trigger physiological reactions in plant organisms. Biological detection of such factors can be conducted by measuring electrochemical, bio-electric, hydrodynamic and other responses of plants in-situ. Biosensing applications, e.g. fast AI phenotyping or environmental monitoring have great practical relevance due to high sensitivity, simplicity and reliability of sensors, enabling outdoor and field applications. Tomato, tobacco, dracaena or any other plant can be used for biosensing purposes, motivated by a sensitivity of these plants for a particular stressor.
